I prefer natural fabrics because they feel terrific against your skin and allow your pores to “breathe”. When I wear man-made materials, I tend to perspire more. Excessive perspiration can detract from your appearance and even cause you to have an unpleasant odor.

Select classic styles if you are unsure of current trends. Maybe you just had a baby and don't have time to read the latest issues of Vogue for fashion tips. Perhaps current fashion trends simply aren't appealing to you. Further, wearing fashion trends that are “so yesterday” definitely makes you look like a “don't”. Classic designs such as boot leg jeans, broomstick skirts, button up shirts, tweed trousers, v-neck tee shirts and Bermuda shorts are always in style. If you know your budget for clothes is tight, stick to timeless styles and colors that mix and match well and you will always look terrific.

If you have a classic wardrobe, you can update your look by incorporating trendy jewelry, interesting belts, cool hats, colorful scarves, heavenly handbags and shoes to die for. Adding a few new accessories to your wardrobe each season can keep your look modern and exciting without investing a lot of cash. If you don't have a lot of cha-ching, a little bling bling goes a long way.

Exercise good grooming at all times. Unkempt hair, unpleasant odors and dirty toes in sandals totally detract from your appearance, no matter how many other fashion tips you follow. Also, telltale bra and underwear lines are always a no-no. Exercising good grooming habits can make you look super even in your sweats – and sweats don't mean you have to smell like them!

Choose clothing that feels comfortable. When you feel comfortable, it shows. Wearing clothing that fits properly, hangs correctly and feels pleasurable against your skin boosts your overall appearance and self-esteem. Devastating designs don't have to be uncomfortable and shouldn't be. If an article of clothing doesn't feel right, don't buy it because you'll never be totally at ease when you wear it – and that shows, too.

Modern fashion tips dictate that the new rule is to under-dress rather than overdress. If you are unsure of the dress code, select clothing that is slightly less dressy than what you think others will wear. Consider the embarrassment of showing up at that important business banquet in an evening dress when everyone else is wearing a suit. On the other hand, if you wear a lovely suit with a ruffled silk blouse, you will look appropriate even if others are in evening apparel.

Buy versatile clothing that is appropriate for a variety of occasions. A single-breasted blazer, well-fitting dark jeans, white blouse or black a-line skirt can go anywhere, depending on the accessories you choose. Dark jeans and a sweatshirt are ideal for a picnic in the park. Couple those same dark jeans with a shiny blouse and you are ready for a night on the town. Versatile clothing in complimentary colors that fits well can take you a long way.
